Insurance Gap Finder
Most people are over-insured in one area and dangerously exposed in another. Answer a few questions about your income, dependents, debts, and current policies — this tool estimates what you actually need, scores each area, and ranks your gaps by priority.
Educational estimates — not insurance advice. These are simplified rules of thumb to start a conversation with a licensed agent, not recommendations to buy, drop, or change any policy. See the assumptions before acting.
1. About you
2. What you already have
Most employers provide 1–2× salary free. It ends when you leave the job.
Group long-term disability usually replaces about 60% of salary — and it's often taxable and capped.
3. Property & liability
Typically $15–25/month. Covers your belongings and liability.
Extra $1M+ liability protection — usually a few hundred dollars a year. Matters most if you own a home, have teen drivers, a dog, or a rental property.

Assumptions (read before acting)
- Life need = 10 × annual income + mortgage + other debts − existing coverage. The 10× rule is a common starting point, not a precise measure — it ignores Social Security survivor benefits, college costs, and existing savings.
- Disability need = 60% of gross monthly income until age 65. This matches what most individual policies target; it ignores taxes, Social Security disability, and employer sick leave.
- Scores compare what you have against these estimates: 80+ = solid, 50–79 = partial, under 50 = exposed.
- Priority ranking puts catastrophic, hard-to-recover risks first (no health coverage, uninsured home), then ranks income-protection gaps by their lifetime dollar size.
- This tool can't see policy fine print — exclusions, waiting periods, and definitions of disability matter enormously. That's what the "ask an agent" lists are for.
